The Transforming Yes: Its Cost
« By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. »
What it says
My dear friend,
Sometimes, we clearly hear the voice of God guiding us. A quiet inner voice, a deep conviction, a persistent thought. It's a call to take a specific action, to speak a word, to abandon a habit, or to take a new direction. It's not always easy, because this 'yes' often demands a *cost*.
Hearing and Weighing the Step
We all want to obey God, don't we? But when His direction challenges us, hesitation can arise. It's not about general obedience, but a *specific step* He is inviting you to take this week. Perhaps He's asking you to contact that person with whom things are tense. Or to forgo an unnecessary expense to support a ministry. Or even to leave a comfort zone that holds you back.
This step feels heavy. You wonder if you're capable, or if it's worth it. Fear of the unknown, anxiety about others' judgment, or the simple difficulty of change can paralyze you. But remember that Abraham took a similar step: he left without knowing where he was going, simply because God had called him.
The Yes, an Act of Sacrifice
The true cost of our 'yes' isn't financial. It's often the sacrifice of our comfort, our reputation, our own plans, or our fears. It's giving of our time, our energy, or even our dignity. It's not always pleasant, but that's where our faith grows the most.
When you say yes to God, even if it's for a small thing that costs you, you prove that you trust Him more than your own fears. God sees your heart and your commitment. He knows what you are giving up. And He never leaves such a sacrifice unanswered, because He cares for your needs and your well-being, even amidst your uncertainties.
> Matthew 25:21 (ESV): “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’”
Blessing, at the End of the Road
What you give by concretely obeying, God transforms into blessing. The 'cost' of saying yes is always surpassed by the richness of what God gives you in return. It can be deep peace, unexpected joy, an open door, a restored relationship, or a new dimension of His love.
Every step of obedience, even the most difficult, anchors you deeper in Him. He builds your character and strengthens your relationship with your heavenly Father. Don't let the price frighten you, for God's faithfulness is always greater than any sacrifice we are called to make.

Take a moment today to identify that *specific step* God is inviting you to take this week, the one that costs you a little. This small act of concrete obedience. Then, decide to do it. Start with the first necessary micro-step. Act now, even if it requires effort.
