Dreaming of pregnancy — whether your own or someone else's — very often relates to a promise in gestation. The Bible is full of such images: Sarah, Hannah, Elizabeth, Mary. These are stories of waiting, of promise, of fruit after a season.
A Promise in Gestation
A project, a ministry, a calling, a vision that God has been forming within you for months or years. Pregnancy in a dream says: 'It is taking shape. Hold on a little longer.'
The Time of Waiting
Pregnancy is also nine months of waiting. Habakkuk 2:3: 'If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come.' The dream may be asking you not to spiritually abort what God is doing — out of weariness, pressure, or doubt.
When Another Woman Is Pregnant
Often a call to intercede for her, or the revelation that what she is carrying (a project, a vision) is about to come to fruition. Sometimes it's also a word for your own life: what she carries is a type of what you, too, are carrying.
Final Discernment
Ask the Lord: 'Father, what are you growing in me? What should I nourish? What should I protect?' And write down the answer. Spiritual pregnancy needs to be protected — from the gaze of mockers, from hasty words, from weariness.
