Aller plus loin : child dans les Écritures

The child is one of the tenderest and most demanding symbols in the Bible. Christ requires us to be like one to enter the Kingdom (Matthew 18:3), he identifies with the little ones (Matthew 18:5), and the Messianic promise itself takes the form of a child born (Isaiah 9:6). To dream of a child is almost never trivial: it is a word about a promise in seed, a calling that is growing, an innocence to protect, or sometimes a call to intercession for a real child.

Strates bibliques du symbole

Matthew 18:3

« Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. »

The child in a dream is often a mirror. If you see yourself as a child, or become one, it is almost always a call to set down a too-adult posture: mastery, calculation, self-sufficiency. The Kingdom is received, not seized.

Isaiah 9:6

« For to us a child is born, to us a son is given. »

Every birth of a child in a dream has a Messianic dimension: what is born is given, it is not your production. If you dream of a child appearing without pregnancy, it is often a work God will do without you being its origin.

Luke 18:16

« Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them. »

Christ defends the little ones. If in your dream a child is threatened, forgotten, wounded, it is very often a call to intercession for a real child (in your family, your circle, a ministry). Ask the Lord for the name.

Matthew 18:10

« Their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father. »

Children have direct angelic access. If in your dream a child speaks to you with wisdom too great for their age, listen — it is often a channel God uses to slip past your defenses.

Scénarios concrets et leur lecture

You hold a newborn in your arms

Promise in seed. Often a calling, a project, a ministry beginning. Note the sex and the face — God sometimes gives very concrete clues.

You become a child again

Call to inner conversion. It is not regression — it is the invitation of Matthew 18:3. Lay down a burden of mastery.

A child speaks to you with wisdom

Prophetic channel. Note the exact phrase. God often chooses the smallest to confound the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27).

A wounded, forgotten, lost child

Urgent intercession. Ask the Lord for the name. Cover the person for 7 to 21 days with prayer. Also examine whether it is the inner child in you — the one you left alone.

You give birth without having been pregnant

A work God gives without visible preparation. Season of unexpected fruitfulness. Do not be ashamed of what looks out of the norm.

An unknown child comes to live with you

Mission of welcome. Sometimes literal (spiritual fatherhood, mentoring, foster care), sometimes symbolic (a gift God asks you to nurture).

Several children play around you

Season of fruit, of community, of teaching. Often received before a call to serve a group — Bible school, youth, extended family.

Questions de discernement

  • 1.Was the child joyful, peaceful, wounded, lost?
  • 2.Did you recognize the child, or were they unknown?
  • 3.About what age were they?
  • 4.Did you feel responsibility, tenderness, urgency?
  • 5.Did the child speak to you? What did they say?
  • 6.Did the dream come with a thought for a real child?

Prière étendue

« Father, you who entrusted the salvation of the world to a child born in a manger, I come to you with this dream. If you showed me a child who resembles you, give me to become small before you — to lay down what I think I know, to receive instead of producing. If you entrusted me with a promise in seed, I protect it: I will not reveal it too quickly, I will not feed it badly. If you showed me a wounded child, give me the name of the one to intercede for, and give me the perseverance to return each day. And if the child in the dream is the child in me I left alone too long, come and find him yourself — you are the only Father who does not disappoint. Amen. »

Note pastorale

Dreams of a wounded or lost child often recur in people who have known perinatal loss, a difficult childhood, or an unrecognized responsibility. Do not carry these dreams alone — they are holy ground best worked over with two or three, with a trained shepherd.
