Christ identifies himself with it ('I am the door,' John 10:9), he holds its keys ('I have set before you an open door which no one can shut,' Revelation 3:8), and he himself stands at the door of our heart knocking (Revelation 3:20). To dream of a door is almost always to dream of a threshold: opportunity, transition, choice of season.

An open door in a dream is almost always a promise of opportunity God will not let anyone block. When you see it, note what is behind — that is often the direction God is turning you toward.

« I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved. »
Not all doors lead to the same place. If the door of your dream brings you back to Christ (light, peace, a face like his), it is a safe threshold. If it requires you to leave behind what is of him, it is not the right one.

When you dream of someone knocking at your door, ask who is calling. Sometimes it is Christ himself seeking a new access in a zone you had closed to him — a relationship, a habit, a locked inner room.

A door you cannot close in the dream often refers to a spiritual door left ajar — words, alliances, content, places. To close it in the dream begins by closing it in real life.

Divine opportunity. God goes ahead. Do not force the calendar — enter when peace accompanies you.
You look for a key that opens no door
Season of waiting. It is not the hour. The authenticity of the call will be confirmed by a door that opens without a key.
Several doors lined up before you
Multiple decision. Do not choose out of curiosity; choose the one from which peace comes. Often only one is lit.
Someone knocks at your door in the night
Visitation. Read Revelation 3:20 on waking. Ask the Lord what zone of your life he wants to reopen.
A door you cannot close
Spiritual breach. Examine words listened to, content, alliances. Ask a shepherd to pray with you to formally close it.
A door toward the light, another toward darkness
Discernment test. Elijah in 1 Kings 19 — God is not in the great wind. Choose the gentle light, not the spectacular brilliance.
You open a door onto a room you do not know
Inner discovery. God shows you a territory of your heart he wants to inhabit. Note the colors, the objects, the atmosphere.
