Water is one of God's oldest languages. It opens the Bible — the Spirit hovers over the waters (Genesis 1:2) — and closes it — the river of the water of life flows from the throne (Revelation 22:1). Between the two, it runs through almost every spiritual season: flood waters, the parted Red Sea, the Jordan to cross, Jacob's well, Ezekiel's river, water turned to wine, the living water promised to the Samaritan woman. To dream of water is almost always to receive news of the state of your soul — and of what the Spirit wants to do there.

Living water is the direct image of the Holy Spirit. When your dream shows a spring rising in you, a river flowing from your belly, an unexpected tap that begins to run — it is almost always a word about your inner life: there is more in you than you believe.

Ezekiel's river flows out of the sanctuary and heals everything it touches. If in your dream water reaches a dry ground, makes it green again, brings dead fish back to life, crosses a city — it is a word of mission: what God lets flow through you will reach further than you think.

Troubled water is not out of reach. If you dream of a raging sea, of waves threatening the boat, of storm on the lake: it is almost always an invitation to let Christ stand up in your boat. He speaks to waters, not only to people.

Floods do not only carry dark meanings. For Noah, the rising waters lift the ark. If you dream of rising water and you float instead of sinking, it is often a season in which what seems to drown you is actually what will carry you higher.
Drinking from a clear spring or fountain
A word received, the Spirit quenching you. A season in which God answers a specific thirst. On waking, ask yourself: what am I truly thirsty to hear?
Walking on water, or watching someone walk on water
A call to a faith that steps out of the boat (Matthew 14:29). The Lord shows you a possibility that defies your logic. Keep your eyes on him — do not watch the wind.
Drowning, water that engulfs you
The feeling of being overwhelmed — emotions, debts, conflict, unprocessed grief. It is not a verdict: Psalm 69 was written for this night. Cry out, do not stay silent.
Crossing a river, a ford, a Jordan
A season change. What you leave on one bank will not return; what awaits you on the other bank asks for a different identity. Ask God: who must I become on the other side?
Dirty, stagnant, polluted water
A contaminated source to examine — words listened to, content consumed, ambiguous emotional ties. Purification begins by shutting off the supply, not by mopping the floor.
Rain falling on you, gentle or heavy
Visitation. Biblical rain announces the end of a drought (1 Kings 18). If you step out instead of taking shelter, it is often that you are receiving what you have long waited for.
Water that turns to blood, wine, or otherwise transforms
A powerful sign — either judgment (Exodus 7) or feast (John 2). The dream context decides: fear or joy. Do not carry this dream alone, share it with a shepherd.
