When a dream opens a window onto what is at stake in the unseen.
Not all combat dreams are spiritual — many speak of anxiety, real conflict, stress. But some, by their tone, their recurrence, their figures (armor, sword, invisible pursuer), open a window onto what Ephesians 6 calls a struggle 'against the powers'. A dream is not a battlefield — it is sometimes an observation post.
Ephesians 6:11-12
« Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. »
Full armor is no decorative metaphor: it is a spiritual reality. Dreaming of a full armor, a sword, a shield, is often a word about what you must put on now.
Hebrews 4:12
« The word of God is alive… sharper than any double-edged sword. »
A sword in a dream is almost always the Word. Holding it, receiving it, watching it cut, is a word about the authority God is entrusting to you for this season.

Am I fleeing or standing? Am I armed or unarmed? Does the pursuer have a face, or is he invisible? Is there a presence beside me? If chase dreams recur, talk to a pastor: not alarming, but not trivial.
